I live my life by one simple rule. Pleasure is my God, I am the very definition of a hedonist. If it feels good for me, I do it, and if you have a problem with that you won't last very long here.

“If you don’t want to be pregnant, don’t have sex”

et-tu-dionysus:

drinkthe-koolaid:corruptpolitics:socialistexan:

Saying “if you don’t want a baby, don’t have sex” is the most ridiculous and frankly ignorant argument against LEGAL and SAFE abortions.

This is pretty much like saying:

  • If you don’t want to get fat, don’t eat.
  • If you don’t want to get into a car accident, don’t drive.
  • If you don’t want to be discriminated against, don’t be different.
  • If you don’t want to get raped, don’t dress that way. (or just never say no)

I mean honestly people…

I agree! The “if you don’t want a baby, don’t have sex” argument is always aimed at women. Why should a child be punishment? Isn’t it responsible parenting to choose when you want to have a child, to assure that you can give it all it needs? And people who use this line of argument seem to forget that birth isn’t all that easy. It’s not something everyone survives. It’s expensive and it’s excruciating. Just because you’re a woman doesn’t mean you have to spend life celibate or die giving birth. It’s unfair to limit a woman’s options to either nun or breeding machine.

Exactly. You never hear this argument framed as, “if you don’t want to get a woman pregnant, then don’t have sex”. It’s always aimed at the women, as if they’re the only ones out there having sex. It’s sexist.

THANK YOU. I hate this argument. Pregnancy isn’t a consequence of anything but sperm and egg meeting up and last I checked, no one with a uterus can consciously control that.

This, this, this. I don’t ever want children but that doesn’t mean I have to live in a nunnery.

Uhm, you can’t get an abortion if you’re not pregnant. You can’t abort something that isn’t there, it’s just common...
